Autonomous mobile robots for your warehouse
Skypod ® helps operators prepare orders by transporting items stored in totes or trays between our racks and picking stations. These autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), or automated warehouse robots, are programmed to prioritize the most urgent orders received through our software, ensuring the fastest and most efficient order fulfillment.
Skypods operate in a closed and human-free environment. This reduces the risk of pedestrian traffic in the warehouse and drastically improves on-site efficiency. As your operations change, our Skypod robots can be added or removed from your system in minutes to support throughput needs without disruption.
Fast, agile and adaptable
It can move at speeds of up to 4 m/s (13 ft/s) to access any item in the system within two minutes. It can move in three dimensions without the need for complex infrastructure. It works in both refrigerated and room temperature environments.
All stock units are available quickly
Our agile warehouse robots can retrieve any bin or tray stored in the system in less than two minutes. No slow, complicated machinery. No inefficient digging and stacking. Each system is designed with the right number of robots to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
Reduce the space you take up
Skypod robots can climb up to 12 meters (39 feet) high, allowing you to utilize every inch of storage space from floor to ceiling. Store more items in your warehouse by building instead of climbing out.
Add more robots quickly
As your business needs change, you can purchase additional robots to increase your automated workforce. These additional robots can be added within minutes of their arrival without disruption.
They can also be rented to meet demand during peak seasons, periods of high inventory levels, or periods of increased business growth.
Autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) significantly improve warehouse operations by automating material handling and transportation tasks. Benefits include increased operational efficiency, reduced labor costs, and improved safety by minimizing manual handling of goods. AMRs also provide a level of flexibility that is essential in today’s dynamic business environment, as they can adapt to sudden changes in the business model, changing market trends, and inevitable supply chain disruptions. Additionally, these advanced systems contribute to faster order fulfillment and better space utilization, defining a new standard in warehouse automation.
The key differences are flexibility, intelligence, and ease of integration. Unlike traditional forms of warehouse automation, autonomous mobile robots can dynamically navigate their warehouse environment without the need for fixed infrastructure such as tracks, wires, or heavy or complex machinery. A key feature of AMRs is their ability to update and adjust their operations in real time. This is particularly beneficial when managing urgent orders, as the system can re-prioritize tasks to meet these priority needs without human intervention. This capability, an integral part of the Skypod system, increases operational efficiency and flexibility, making automated warehouse robots a more responsive and adaptable solution than traditional forms of warehouse automation.
Our Skypod system robots are designed to provide high efficiency and minimal downtime for charging. Each lightweight robot requires only about 5 minutes of charging per hour. This is possible thanks to strategically placed charging boosters in the system, allowing the robots to charge autonomously without human intervention.
In addition, the system is configured to ensure that this loading process does not negatively impact throughput. An innovative feature of our robots is their ability to charge while braking and moving off the racks, which increases energy efficiency. This design ensures continuous operation and high productivity, and the loading process is seamlessly integrated into the system workflow.
Deepsky, our comprehensive warehouse software, coordinates every element of the Skypod system, including the robots, and connects them to third-party hardware. The robots are also equipped with LIDAR, which uses laser light to measure distances and generate precise, 3D maps of the surrounding environment.
Yes, the robots used in the Skypod system are Exotec’s proprietary technology, uniquely designed and built in-house. Our approach to creating these robots is not just an iteration of existing AS/RS designs; it is the invention of a new, more elegant solution. Every component of the Skypod system is built to be simple yet effective, embodying what we at Exotec believe is the future of warehouse automation – modular, efficient and reliable.
We understand the complexity of warehouse operations and are committed to not increasing them. We focus on delivering products, not long projects. We strive for solutions that are easy to implement, operate, maintain and scale. This philosophy defines "elegance" at Exotec.

Frequently Asked Questions
Sky picker
This innovation focuses on increasing efficiency and reducing workload in the workplace. The Skypicker is an articulated arm that quickly moves small objects, preparing up to four orders at a time. All this is done with the help of software that controls the entire Skypod system in a closed and safe environment.
Using high-resolution cameras and mathematical visualization algorithms, the system synchronizes the Skypicker with warehouse robots, precisely determining which basket to send to the picking station. The Skypicker achieves an impressive throughput of up to 600 items per hour, which is ideal for industries such as cosmetics, health, electronics, culture and food.
